Consta de 116 procedimientos o fórmulas de los que 19 son nuevos respecto a la última edición. La Dra. Atienza ha dedicado una gran parte de su actividad profesional a la Farmacia Pediátrica, especialmente a la formulación magistral en este ámbito, junto con su equipo de colaboradores, ha conseguido que el presente Manual sea considerado, desde que se editó por primera vez, el auténtico referente en este campo, manteniendo, además, su actualización permanente. La mayor parte de la patología, y la más prevalente, se da, en nuestra sociedad, en la población adulta, y sobre todo anciana, cada vez más numerosa en la pirámide poblacional, lo que hace que los objetivos de investigación y desarrollo de nuevos fármacos por parte de la industria farmacéutica se centren en los medicamentos que van dirigidos a esta población. Los lectores que se acerquen a esta obra por primera vez encontrarán en ella un compendio de las fórmulas magistrales más útiles y más empleadas en nuestro medio, y los fieles asiduos, tanto farmacéuticos de hospital como comunitarios, seguirán hallando la respuesta, muchas veces original, a muchos de los problemas que surgen a la hora de formular soluciones prácticas para conseguir que los pacientes pediátricos reciban los medicamentos que precisan, y que no están disponibles industrialmente. Este manual es de gran interés por tanto para farmacias, farmacéuticos, médicos, hospitales y clínicas, laboratorios, facultades de farmacia y medicina, cursos de formación, etc.
